Surf in Westport

These are the kind of trips you hope for. Although Friday had been blustery with confused seas, force 7 winds from the SW, and showers mixed with hale, Saturday morning dawned with calm winds and sunshine. Isaac and I had a quick breakfast and bolted from the yurt to find that perfect spot on the beach. It wasn't long before we both were out in the breakers pushing our limits in the 11' surf.

Corky Canaday joined us mid-morning, and the rest of the day was spent between daring the waves and breaks on the beach to tell 'war stories.' The most amazing part of the day was to watch Isaac high-brace off the lip of a full 10' wave and survive the resulting roller coaster ride all the way to the beach without capsizing. It was awesome.

By late afternoon we were beat and packed things up, but I had to show Corky a house we had discovered the day before on the beach of North Cove that the winter storms had washed into the beach. A grim reminder on the power of the ocean. Afterwards, grilled steaks and baked potatoes at the yurt, followed by laughter as we watched the days antics captured on film.
I'll re-edit the Westport movie and add the new footage. Keep checking the galleries page for the updates.
