Seems we hardly get a chance to do this anymore, but with the guiding season starting to wind down, hopefully we’ll get to duplicate this weekend’s paddle. What made this paddle so different? Well, mainly because we had absolutely no goal or agenda to complete. Matter of fact, we probably spend more time relaxing and reading on the shore then paddling!
A light lunch, crazy creeks, thermos of tea, and our books where the ticket to an afternoon lazing on the backside of Ketron Island enjoying the sunny weather and solitude. Our biggest ambition was to go beach combing on the tide line,

and although the weather is still relatively warm, I did notice my first autumn leaf. It won’t be long before the days shorten and cool, but the trade off is having the South Sound to ourselves while the power-boaters moth balling their vessels.

Fall, with the sun low on the horizon, waters devoid of boat traffic, and cool days, is by far my favorite time on the water.

Awesome photography!
Thanks for the compliment. I really owe the latest photos to Brad Miller, a semi-professional photographer, whom I took out last year. While I taught him about paddling, he taught me many tips on improving my photography.
